Recipes and Entertaining in the Military
Decorating EggsLast year my daughter, her buddies, their moms and I tried some elaborate egg people and animals. In no time at all the kids lost interest and the adults were left finishing the eggs. It was a lot of fun for me but I don't think it was fun for my 2 year old. So this year, I found myself looking for the basic food coloring dye recipe for eggs. I found it, and if you are looking for it here it is: Food Colored Eggs - 1/4 tsp color (20 drops)
- 2 tsp distilled vinegar
- 2/3 cups boiling water
Using spoon, dip hard cooked eggs. To mix colors blend drop by drop until you reach desired shade | | Number of Parts | | Color Desired | Red | Yellow | Green | Blue | | Orange | 2 | 3 | | | | Turquoise | | | 1 | 4 | | Lime Green | | 3 | 1 | | | Salmon | 3 | 2 | | | | Violet | 2 | | | 2 | | Pistachio | | 1 | 4 | |
Hard Boiled Eggs In a pot, pour water over eggs until it just covers them. Bring the water to boil. As soon as it starts to boil, Cover the pot with a lid and turn off the heat. Let the eggs sit for 15 minutes. Immediately rinse the eggs under cold water to stop the cooking and avoid any green yolks. Gretchen is a contributing writer for 4MilitaryFamilies.com. |
