Survivors
December 2004I trust everyone had a pleasant and peaceful Thanksgiving. Even amongst our challenges, there's always something to be thankful for. We've had such beautiful weather (most of the time) and have enjoyed the changing of the seasons, getting together with family and friends, health and a good job. What more could we ask?! I work the holidays and therefore, I avoid all the madness, the stress of cooking, cleaning, shopping, and decorating. That's not my bag anymore but I do make time for my family and friends. That's very important to me. I'm also blessed to have a young friend that remembers me with "thinking of you" gifts regularly throughout the year. This week she sent socks with snowmen on them. She knows I wear these funky socks so she has supplied me with angel socks, bells on Christmas socks, 101 Dalmatians, flags on socks, etc... You might be surprised how many people notice my socks.. ~,~ I found a bird house on a pitch fork with a license plate as a roof, of which I exchanged for my veterans license. It looks so nice in my little memorial garden. I also have veterans license plates on my car. After ten years, the secretary of states office sent me a new pair so I also have the old plates on another red, white, and blue bird house on the roof. It's so neat and I love it. I set on my patio and think of happy time and ask God to guide me through the day. In my opinion, if we are too busy to pray, we are too busy. In these changing time when our country is so divided, we have to know there's someone stronger than you or me to hold things together for more than two thousand years. Have a blessed holiday season. Be good to yourself and remember THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. Carolyn is a contributing writer for 4MilitaryFamilies.com. |
